Boarding Policy & Liability Waiver
Definitions: You: The dog’s owner, or carer responsible for the dog.
Sitter/petsitter: The person employed by Jenna’s Petsitting who will be boarding the dog.
Trial: A test day of daycare at the sitter’s home to ensure compatibility, 4-8hrs of daycare prior to the booking.
Booking: The original boarding or daycare dates requested.
Pick up: When you return to take your dog home, or any other reason to return & take the dog off the petsitter’s property.
Prior to commencing a daycare or boarding booking with Jenna’s Petsitting, we will first ask you a series of questions about your dog to ascertain if we have a suitable petsitter available. We’re more than happy to accommodate various behaviours or personality traits in the dogs, but our sitters have different requirements (ie, other pets or boarding dogs, yard size, time they spend at home, ability to walk larger dogs, etc). Please answer these to the best of your ability—sometimes dogs do act differently in different environments.
Due to this, it is required that a trial day is booked at the petsitter’s home for a minimum of 4hrs (maximum of 8). This trial must be completed & feedback from the sitter received by Jenna’s Petsitting before the requested dates are locked in for the original enquiry—your dates will not be kept aside for you until this trial day is completed, to make sure that not only your dog suits our sitter’s home, but that the dog is happy there, with the sitter and potential other pets/boarding dogs, and comfortable.
The trial day will be charged at our usual rate, and this will be payable prior to dropping the dog off for the trial day.
Confirmation of your requested dates will be provided to you by the following morning (maximum 18hrs after you picked your dog up).
If you choose to waive this trial day (ie your request is too last minute to have a trial day, or you cannot fit this into your schedule, or for any other reason), we will do our best to accommodate you. If we do not have availability, we will refer you to a few local daycare/boarding facilities or local petsitters. If we can accommodate your request, Jenna’s Petsitting will send confirmation of your booking (including the petsitter’s contact details and address for dropping the dog off). We will, as per all bookings, require full payment of the invoice for the booking before drop off. Due to waiving the trial day, you will accept full liability for any damage caused by the dog during its stay.
This includes, but is not limited to: Damage to walls, doors, or floors due to digging, chewing, jumping, or toileting inside. Damage to furniture or belongings due to digging, chewing, or toileting. Damage to the lawn or yard due to digging or jumping/scratching.
An acceptable level of mess is expected with a dog; they’ll bring dirt inside, or get covered in mud & run through the house or onto the couch. They’ll shed their hair, or slobber on the sitter’s clothes, or run around the yard and wear a little track into the lawn. This is totally fine! We love their enthusiasm. Excessive damage, however, will be noted with photos, including a quote for replacement.
This will be invoiced to you prior to picking up the dog, and must also be paid in full with proof prior to pick up. We will then replace the offending items & provide the receipts as proof of purchase to you. The exception to this is: Understanding that the petsitter is responsible for regular exercise of the dog, not leaving items laying on the ground within reach of the dog without supervision, & leaving the dog only as per prior discussion (ie in a crate if crate-trained, inside or outside the house as their used to, and only for/up to as many hours as you have specified the dog has been used to). If these standards are not met, full payment will be waived and the petsitter will be responsible. These standards being met or not will be decided by Jenna’s Petsitting after a thorough discussion with the petsitter, including the petsitter providing any proof or timestamps as required, if possible.
Jenna’s Petsitting does not accept liability for the dog damaging its own items that you provided (including bowls, food & food bag, harness, leash, collar, bed, or toys) if standards of care as outlined above are met. If the dog damages a boarding dog’s items, or the petsitter’s own pets’ items, this will be included in the invoice.
If the trial day is completed & your booking enquiry is confirmed, please note that any and all damage incurred during the dog/s stay is the responsibility of Jenna’s Petsitting.
For the duration of the stay, you are to provide anything the dog will need (food, bed, bowls, leash, etc), though we suggest not bringing toys (due to other dogs being around & the possibility of loss or damage to it), you’re welcome to do so. If you do not provide something (for example, food) that the dog requires, we will purchase the brand you require & will add to your invoice, payable prior to pick up.
Jenna’s Petsitting will provide regular updates, including photos where possible, of your dog’s stay and adventures! This will be accessible via our app, Timetopet, which you will have received a welcome email to. If you cannot access Timetopet for any reason, please notify Jenna’s Petsitting & we will find an alternate way to send updates to you.
